Although not a fan of the TV show "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" or the comic series that followed after the show was cancelled, I was made aware of a centaur appearance in the comic. One of the "slayers" (I think,) named Dawn, goes through a series of changes through a series of events that are more involved than I'm going to go into here, or that I know anything about. Some information about the character, Dawn Summers, is on Wikipedia at, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dawn_Summers
All that aside, the latest issue of Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season 8 Issue #18 has several pages featuring Dawn's change into a centaur and a conversation she has with "Xander" about her change. Message boards indicate that Dawn will remain a centaur for four issues and then change into something else. Although not on the cover of this issue, she is on one of the covers (of which each issue seems to have two,) of issue #18, posted on the Dark Horse Comics web site here,
http://www.comicscontinuum.com/stories/0806/05/buffy18a.htm As some of you old timers may recall a Dark Horse title, "Soulsearchers and Company" featured a human to centaur transformed female. Panels of this long out of print comic are available at, http://www.centaursite.com/comics/hot2trot/
Dawn as a centaur isn't rendered all that badly in the Buffy comic. The area where the color between human skin and equine coat changes varies from panel to panel, and she has her human hips replaced by her equine shoulders which is a pet peeve of mine, but I give the art a solid 8 out of 10.
So if you're in a comic shop, thumb through a copy of this and see what you think. I for one will be following this story arc with much interest!
