~A Little Art History~

Um... where to start? Well, I suppose I've always liked to draw, but I guess I really started to really 'draw' when anime like Sailor Moon, Pokemon and Digimon was on morning tv. I didn't actually realise it was anime at the time, but I was only young. Eventually I learnt more about it (when I started my small Astro Boy obsession, which kinda still exists).

After my initial bout of anime fan-ness, a friend of mine when I was in year 7 introduced me to a little website called 'Neopets'. Being the easily amused kid I was, the bright colours and pretty pets got me hooked, and before I knew it, I was drawing Neopets everyday and everynight. I've quit Neopets and have developed a small hatred of it, but I have to admit that I have to thank it for getting me to where I am now.

It was during my time on Neopets that I started to get into drawing comics. I first sent in a comic under my first username of 'Culbo1', then I eventually started sending in comics under a second account- 'Random_Joy', hence my nickname. When I look back at my first comics, I really have to wonder why they were chosen. The art was a huge horrible mess... But somehow, I ended up being a minor celebrity... I won't bore you with the details of why I quit, but it was a mix of fed-up-ness and I had schoolwork to do.

I got involved in furry drawing after I discovered the wonderful webcomic, DMFA. It really inspired me to learn more about drawing and to stop being so unconfident in my own art skills. I have Amber to thank for a lot of things, that's for sure.

Things have really settled down for me in my art style, and I feel that I haven't been changing much lately. But I know I have a long way to go still, and I can only get better.
