No Greater Love
Story Art

"...'Cause we're all living in an Imperial world, and I am an Imperial girl." This idea came to Grant right out of the blue; he dashed off a picture and sent it to me. It's awesome! I laughed my ass off! Great work, Grant!

A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away Grant said he'd do some illustrations for No Greater Love. Then, out of the blue, one appears! Here is a preliminary sketch of Kathryn Nebulart, former super model, now a cyborg and also analyst, investigator, and interrogator (torturer) for the Imperial Security Bureau. I particularly liked the expression he gave her; it seems to suit her character perfectly.

I reluctantly had to point out that the antenna design in the previous image was incorrect. (On the other hand, I didn't include much detail in the story.) I sent him a detailed description and he responded with this.

The second revision antenna design didn't have the right kind of joints. Also, I decided that I wanted two additional oculars. This finishes everything up nicely.

Having worked out the details of her headware Grant gives us a full body study.

The proportions on the previous image were a bit off so Grant adjusted them in this more finished version.

In this version Grant made some adjustments to her face and cyberware. Third time's the charm, as they say.

With all in order Grant produced an inked version. This is one of the file photos from the research project which installed Kathryn's cyberware.

At long last we have Kathryn in color!

With the basic color scheme approved (I asked Grant to lighten the cyberware a bit and he decided to lighten the hair) we now have the finished model sheet for Kathryn, with detail and shading added. Grant suggested that her dour expression is due in part to the fact that all the team scientists and technicians came by to ogle her as the picture was being taken. I can easily imagine that being so; but you may also be assured that she remembered each and every face, and repaid their attentions generously once she attained status in the ISB.
